You start wearing blue and brown...

Rick reviews London Calling: 25th Anniversary Legacy Edition:

"London Calling was political without being a rant, occasionally quite funny and, from the title track on, suffused with the doomsday atmosphere I remember most of all from the time: we were all going to die, sooner than later, and this was what our fear sounded like. It was also one of the first punk albums to really catch on with non-punks; you haven't seen anything until you've seen a bar full of stockbrokers dancing wildly to the anti-corporate anthem Clampdown at the height of the '80s boom. The 25th anniversary edition of London Calling tells me two things: we didn't die, and we're old enough to have a three-disc box set marketed to us, of an album I once had to save up for a month to afford."
