From our bulging My Country Is a Joke file:

"French" seeing eye dog forced to "learn" "English."

Turns out the blind student is studying pastoral counselling at St Paul's University in Ottawa. I used to work for Novalis Publishing in Toronto; one of their head offices was in St. Paul's (its a long story, but basically we had 3 offices -- the 3rd in Montreal -- because, well, we had to to keep the Frenchies happy. This is Canada, remember?)

And speaking of bilingualism: so you walk into St Paul's lobby, and you see all these bilingual signs. They say things like:

DEPARTMENT OF THEOLOGY
BUREAU DE THEOLOGIE

or whatever the translation would be, and an arrow pointing right or left.

This is how we figured out which way we needed to go when we first visited. There was a sign pointing left, and this is what it said:

NOVALIS
NOVALIS

Honest. Have I mentioned how much I hate this petty little nation lately?
