School board may replace "Christmas break" with "Winter break:
"Designating the two-week winter break as Christmas makes many non-Christian students feel excluded and alienated, he said.
Mr. Goodman acknowledged he has no hard evidence to support his thesis, nor was the motion prompted by a specific complaint.
Instead, he said, he is relying on anecdotal evidence and 'lots of small stories' he has heard.
For non-Christian pupils, Mr. Goodman likened the celebration of Christmas to walking in a shoe with a nail poking through.
'Every small irritant pushes somebody further away from doing well at school,' he said."
